✅4 Killed As Crane Collapses During Temple Festival Arakkonam TN

Witness, Chennai: Tragedy happened in Tamil Nadu. At a temple festival held near Arakkonam, four people died when a crane fell on the devotees. Nine others were injured. The incident came to light at 8.15 pm on Sunday at Kilivedi village in Nemili, Ranipet district. Details.. Draupadi Amman Utsav was held last night in Mandiamman temple. More than 1500 devotees from surrounding villages came to witness this ceremony. 50 policemen from Nemili have been deployed. This festival is usually celebrated after Sankranti (Pongal).

As part of the Mileru Utsavam organized near the temple, the local villagers parade the idols of the deity on a crane. Three persons stand on a 25 feet high crane to decorate the garlands offered by the devotees to the Goddess. But due to the increased weight on the crane, the front part suddenly tilted to the side. The crane fell on the devotees. Three people on the crane fell and died on the spot.

A stampede took place as people ran away in panic due to the unexpected incident. In this process, nine people including a girl were seriously injured. The injured have been shifted to the government taluk hospital in Arakkonam and the primary health center in Ponnai for treatment. Another person died while receiving treatment. This brings the death toll to four. On the other hand, doctors said that the condition of the injured is critical.

Horrible scenes of the incident were recorded on a phone taken by a person there. In this, people are seen suffocating as the crane suddenly collapses. The victims who died in the accident were identified as K Muthukumar (39), S Bhupalan (4) and B Jyoti Babu (17). The police registered a case on this accident and arrested the crane driver. Police said further investigation is on.
