Dr. Rajendra Singh is a water conservationist and community worker from Alwar district, Rajasthan. Recognized as ‘Water Man of India’. Won the Stockholm Water Prize. He founded the non-governmental organization ‘Tarun Bharat Sangh’. Today is Rajendra Singh’s birthday. Born on 6th August 1959 in Uttar Pradesh. He received the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2001 for his outstanding contribution to the management of fresh water in the desert region of Rajasthan.
Due to Rajendra Singh’s efforts five rivers in Rajasthan namely Arvari, Ruparel, Sarsa, Bhaga Ani and Jagajwali were revived and provided water to 1000 villages! Rajendra Singh is one of the members of the ‘National Ganga River Basin Authority’, a body with planning, financing, monitoring and coordination authority for the Ganges River established in 2009 under the Government of India’s Environment Protection Act (1986). Rajendra Singh has been named in the list of ’50 people saving the planet’ by the famous magazine ‘Guardian’.
