Patna: Senior Janata Dal (United) leader and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called for all opposition parties to unite to defeat the BJP at the Centre. People of the country are waiting for an alternative. He said that all the parties should put aside their differences and join hands for public welfare. Nitish addressed the JD(U) national executive meeting in Bihar’s capital Patna on Saturday.
He made it clear that his sole aim is to work for the unity of the opposition. He said that non-BJP parties are expected to be brought on a common platform. He said that if all the opposition parties fight together, the BJP can be limited to only 50 seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is noteworthy that a decision was taken in the JD(U) national executive meeting, entrusting Nitish with the responsibility of uniting the opposition against the BJP.
Also, a resolution was passed alleging that undeclared emergency is being implemented in the country under the rule of the saffron party and they are abusing the investigation agencies and silencing the opposition. The resolution emphasized that it is the constitutional right to express dissent if one does not like the policies of the government. He criticized that those who disagreed are branded as traitors. He said that it is time for the bigoted BJP to come to its senses. “Minorities are being targeted. Intolerance and extremism are increasing in the society. JD(U) expressed concern that Dalits and tribals are being harassed.
Nitish is an alternative to Modi
JD(U) in the ruling coalition in Bihar is intensifying its efforts to bring Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to the fore as an alternative leader to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the national level. The meetings of the party’s national working group and national council began in Patna on Saturday. On the first day of these two-day meetings, key issues were discussed. Describing Nitish as the prime ministerial candidate, flexes were arranged at the venue. JD(U) activists criticized saying ‘Desh Ka Neta Kaisa Ho.. Nitish Kumar Jaisa Ho’.
Nitish’s visit to Delhi from tomorrow!
Nitish is likely to visit Delhi for three days from the 5th of this month as part of his efforts to bring all the opposition together to defeat the BJP in the 2024 elections. He will meet the opposition leaders including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. JD(U) sources said that he will meet with Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, former Haryana Chief Minister Omprakash Chautala and Communist leaders. This is Nitish’s first visit to Delhi after breaking with the BJP in Bihar.
Shock for JD(U) in Manipur
Five MLAs join BJP
Patna/Imphal: JD(U) got a big shock in Manipur. Of the six MLAs, five joined the ruling BJP on Friday. The Assembly Secretary announced that the Speaker has also approved their merger. Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and BJP state chief N. Saradadevi Sadara said that Sadara is giving a warm welcome to those MLAs. They met the respective Mmeloyes at a dinner event in Delhi on Saturday. Birensingh posted on Facebook that the inclusion of MLAs is an indicator of people’s trust and love for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President JP Nadda. With the latest additions in the 60-seat Manipur Assembly, BJP’s strength has increased to 37.
The trick is to buy MLAs: Nitish
JD(U) leader and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was furious over the latest developments. He questioned the BJP whether it is constitutional to buy MLAs. BJP has been criticized for putting MLAs of other parties in the basket. He called upon all the parties to fight together against the BJP in the 2024 elections. Manipur JD(U) president Kush Biren said that they will approach the Supreme Court seeking the disqualification of their MLAs who joined the BJP. He said that their behavior is a violation of the constitution.
