Kolkata: TMC Minister Udayan Guha has defended the comments made by the Chief Minister of West Bengal on the stone pelting on the Vande Bharat train. The reason for the stone pelting was said to be high train ticket prices. He criticized the central government and Vande Bharat trains. He alleged that ordinary trains are being renamed as Vande Bharat and charging high fares.
They are changing the name of ordinary trains as Vande Bharat. High speed train fares are being collected. If it was a high speed train then why did it take eight hours to reach New Jalpaiguri from Howrah? Don’t use public money to paint normal trains as Vande Bharat. At first they named Vandebharat Normal Train. After that the bogies were painted and converted into Vande Bharat Express. The reason for the attacks is that the ticket prices are high.’ Minister Udayan Guha criticized the Centre.
The Center has introduced the Vande Bharat train between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri on December 30, 2022. Prime Minister Modi waved the flag and started the train. However, some pelted stones at it. Speaking on the attack, he said that there was no difference in the new Vande Bharat compared to the old train, hence people were outraged.
