Chandigarh: Tragedy took place in Bharat Jodo Yatra, which was undertaken by the Congress party. Congress leader and Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary passed away due to heart attack. This development took place shortly after the yatra started on Saturday morning.
Santokh Singh collapsed shortly after leaving Ludhiana’s Phillaur on foot with Rahul Gandhi. As his heart was beating fast, he was immediately taken to a hospital in Phagwara in an ambulance. But it seems that he has already passed away. Doctors confirmed that he died of heart attack. As soon as the matter came to know, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi put a brake on the yatra. He immediately went to the hospital.
Meanwhile, party president Mallikarjuna Kharge said in a statement that Santosh Singh Chaudhary’s death is a huge loss for the party. On the other hand, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and former CM Captain Amarinder Singh also expressed their condolences on the death of the MP through Twitter.

Santokh Singh Chaudhary (76).. Previously also worked in the Punjab Cabinet. He became an MP in 2014 and 2019 elections.
