Chandigarh: A key development has taken place in the politics of Punjab. Fauja Singh Sarari, Minister of Food Sanitation and Horticulture of that state has resigned from his post. Sarari has submitted his resignation letter stating that he is stepping down due to personal reasons. He clarified that he is a loyal soldier of the party and will continue in the party. However, it became imperative to resign within months of corruption allegations against him.
Minister Fauja Singh Sarari was accused of corruption four months ago. An audio of his conversation with OSD Tarsem Lal Kapur came to light which made the minister uncomfortable. It was revealed in the audio that the two talked about taking money from foodgrain contractors. With this, the opposition criticized the minister as well as the government. They demanded that Fauja be removed from the cabinet and arrested. But Fauja denied the allegations.
The discussion in the party circles is continuing that the Punjab cabinet will be reshuffled on Saturday evening following the minister’s resignation. There is a possibility that Patiala Rural MLA Dr. Balbir Singh or Jagran MLA Saravjit Kaur Manuke will take charge of Sarari.
