Digital Desk, New Delhi. Around 1,000 Delhi Police personnel have been infected with Kovid-19 since January 1. Officials gave this information on Monday.
A Delhi Police official said that all these policemen are home quarantined and are recovering.
The affected include 18 IPS officers. These include one joint CP, four additional CP and 13 DCP.
No one has been admitted to the hospital so far, the official said. The police department is taking all precautions to ensure that the virus does not spread further. Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana is personally looking into the matter.
The police officer said, this is the third wave of Kovid. We have faced two waves controlling law and order. But this time, we suffer more.
Delhi Police officials were the first to take the Kovid vaccine as frontline workers. A total of 90,000 personnel of Delhi Police have been given both doses of the vaccine.
Not only the Delhi Police, but the Mumbai Police department is also facing a tough time in the third wave, with at least 523 cases of coronavirus in its ranks, adding 114 in the last 48 hours.
Meanwhile, DG Prisons Sandeep Goel said that 46 prisoners and 43 officers in three jails have been infected with Kovid.
