digital desk, New Delhi. In the last 24 hours, India recorded 2,47,417 new Covid-19 cases, a significant jump of over 50,000 from the previous day. At the same time, active infection cases are more than 11 lakh.
According to the ministry, 11,17,531 active cases currently constitute 3.08 per cent of the total positive cases in the country.
Also in the same period, 380 more people succumbed to the virus, taking the nationwide death toll to 4,85,035.
Meanwhile, the Omicron figure has risen to 5,488, of which 2,162 patients have been discharged from hospitals.
A total of 28 states have detected the new variant so far, the ministry said.
With 84,825 patients getting cured in the last 24 hours, the cumulative number has increased to 3,47,15,361. As a result, India’s recovery rate is 95.59 percent.
Also in the same period, a total of 18,86,935 tests were conducted across the country, taking the total figure to over 69.73 crore.
With the administration of over 76 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID vaccination coverage reached 154.61 crore as of Thursday morning.
