Digital Desk, Bangalore. Karnataka government will introduce booster dose or precautionary dose vaccination for health care workers, frontline workers and persons above 60 years of age with co-morbidities from Monday i.e. today.

At least 6 lakh health care workers, 7 lakh frontline workers and 8 lakh persons above 60 years of age who are co-morbid with 9 months or 39 weeks immunization in the state will be given a precautionary dose or a booster dose . Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will launch this precautionary dose vaccination at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Centre, Bengaluru.

This program is being started as per the guidelines of the Central Government. The state started corona vaccination from January 16, 2021 and with a target of 4.89 crore beneficiaries above the age of 18 years, 4.8 crore (99 per cent) beneficiaries have been given the first dose and 3.9 crore (81 per cent) have been given the second dose.

In fact, vaccination was introduced for children in the age group of 15-18 years from January 3, with a target of 31.75 lakh beneficiaries, Karnataka has vaccinated 15.5 lakh (49 per cent) beneficiaries with the first dose.
