Mumbai Police has arrested an 18-year-old girl in the Bulli Bai case, which has done online ‘auction’ of about 100 women. An important revelation has now come to light in this matter. According to the Mumbai Police, the accused girl Shweta Singh was allegedly working on the instructions of a social media friend based in Nepal.
Sources in the probe agency said that preliminary information received from accused Shweta Singh revealed that a Nepali citizen named Jiau was giving instructions about the activities to be done on the app. Shweta Singh was detained from Udham Singh Nagar district and then Mumbai Police officials sought transit remand till January 5.
Shweta Singh’s name was disclosed by the accused Vishal Kumar, arrested in Bengaluru, who is a second year engineering student. Vishal Kumar had said that he was in touch with Shweta Singh and Shweta Singh was in touch with people who were working on the posts and activities on the Bulli Bai app.
Vishal-Sulli Deals Connection
Mumbai Police officials are also probing Vishal’s role in the Sulli Deals incident, which came to light in 2021 before the Bulli Bai app. The role of Vishal, an average engineering student, was to edit photographs of women from a particular community and then upload them to the app.
Shweta was running JattKhalsa07 with a fake Twitter account
Shweta Singh was using a fake Twitter handle named JattKhalsa07 which was being used to upload hate posts, objectionable pictures and comments. The people associated with him also believed in this ideology.
Who is Shweta?
Shweta Singh has been arrested from Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand. His father had died during the Corona period, while the mother had died of cancer. She has an elder sister, while a younger sister and brother are in school. Shweta was preparing for engineering entrance exam.
Police are probing the role of the alleged Nepali national and others associated with Shweta Singh. It is also being investigated whether Shweta Singh created the Bulli Bai app herself or was helped by someone else. Shweta will be brought to Mumbai today and can be produced for remand in Bandra Metropolitan Magistrate Court.
