The Modi government at the Center has been continuously emphasizing on self-reliant India for the last one year. Efforts are being made to make India self-reliant in every field. Regarding the defense sector too, PM Modi has said on many occasions that his dependence on other countries will have to be reduced. Now the central government is going to take a big step in this direction. It is reported that soon the government may cancel or postpone many defense-related import projects.

It has been told that a high-level meeting of the Defense Ministry is going to be held on Wednesday. In that meeting, all those defense-related import projects will be reviewed, which can either be postponed or completely canceled by the government. This decision of the government is going to affect many projects. Whether those projects are related to fighter planes or ships and guns, one decision can change everything.

For information, let us tell you that some time ago a review meeting has been held by PM Modi on this issue. Then CDS Bipin Rawat also participated in that meeting. In that meeting itself, the PM had made his intention clear that India would now have to become self-reliant. After that meeting, a note was written by an Additional Secretary-rank officer of the Ministry of Defense to the Chief of the three Services. It was told in that note that no defense item is being imported. It was also clarified in the note that for now all capital and revenue purchases are being reviewed in detail. This review can be completed by January 15.

Now the plan of the government is that these crores of import projects will be canceled and given to Indian companies. If this happens, indigenous will not only get strength, employment opportunities will also increase in the country itself.
