- So far in Manipur only 45 percent people have received both the doses.
- Only 57 percent people got the first dose of corona
Assembly elections are due in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur in the next few months. The Commission can also announce the dates for the elections soon, but in the midst of all this, one of these five states has become a challenge for the Election Commission. Actually, in Manipur, only a little more than 45 percent people have been able to get both doses of corona, while only 57 percent people have got the first dose. In such a situation, the danger of infection is increasing further, which remains a matter of concern for the commission as well.
The pace of infection of Omicron is also very fast in this northeastern state, which is already suffering from Kovid infection. To combat the pace of corona, not only will the speed of vaccination be accelerated, but preparations will also have to be made on a war footing. There is a possibility that there may be assembly elections by the end of February or in the first week of March.
It is being said that the speed of vaccination is not low, but there is a big difference between the ground reality and the figures regarding the population. The actual population is less while due to papers and other reasons it is said to be more. Apart from this, vaccination has been very less in districts dominated by Naga tribes. Even because of their traditional beliefs, they are not enthusiastic about taking modern treatment, vaccine etc. There is also a lack of awareness in them and the effect of ancient beliefs.
Vaccination status in other electoral states
In Punjab also 43 percent people have taken both doses of the vaccine and 77 percent people have taken the first dose.
In Uttar Pradesh too, the number of people taking both the doses is only 60 percent, while 89 percent of the people have taken the first dose.
In Uttarakhand, 82 percent people have taken both the doses, while in the case of the first dose, the figure will reach 100 percent in a few days.
– Goans have taken the first dose, 100 percent people have taken while 98 percent have taken both the doses.
That is, Manipur and Punjab remain a big challenge before the commission. Although the commission has emphasized on sending additional and special teams to meet the target of vaccination in the five states, Manipur and Punjab are more focused.
Prashant Kishor also emphasized on vaccination
Prashant Kishor, who has prepared a strategy for political parties in the elections, has said that the Election Commission should ensure at least 80 percent vaccination in 5 states to be held within the next few months. He has said that at least 80 percent of the people in the five electoral states should be given both doses of corona.
