Indian wrestler Anshu Malik won silver medal in Commonwealth Games 2022. In the 57 kg category, she was defeated by the Nigerian wrestler in the title match.

Anshu Malik did wonders in the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. This daughter of the country won the silver medal for India in the 57 kg category wrestling. This was the first Commonwealth Games for this 21-year-old young wrestler and she won the silver medal. In the final, she lost to Odonyo of Nigeria. This player of Nigeria won the gold medal for the third time in a row. It is clear that in her debut Commonwealth Games, Anshu’s title match was with a big player and she fought fiercely.

Anshu Malik hails from Jind, Haryana and belongs to the family of wrestlers. Anshu Malik’s father Dharamveer Malik himself was a wrestler. In the year 1995, he played in the World Cated Championship but due to injury his career ended and he could not represent the country. Dharamvir Singh had a dream to play for the country but after his injury he cried tears of blood. However, after this Dharamveer got his son wrestling. During this, Anshu also told her father that she also wants to do wrestling. The father gave him permission for this and then Anshu raised the flag of success.

Showed strength in Asian Junior Championship

Anshu Malik started showing his awesomeness only after four years of learning wrestling. Malik won the silver medal in the Asian Junior Wrestling Championship. After this, Anshu did wonders by winning the gold medal in the 2021 Asian Championships. After seeing Anshu’s success, father Dharamveer admitted that he thought that son Shubham would fulfill his dream, but the daughter did it first.

Anshu’s medal record

Anshu Malik won the silver medal in the World Championship held in Oslo. Earlier in 2020, she won silver in the Individual World Cup in Belgrade. He won gold in Asian Championship 201 while he won silver medal in the same year. She won bronze in the Asian Championships held in New Delhi. Apart from this, he won the gold medal in the 2019 Asian Junior Championships. But now by performing amazingly in the Commonwealth Games, this wrestler has also shown the hope of an Olympic medal.
