Digital Desk, Vijayawada. The central government will release a special commemorative postage stamp on August 2 in the memory of Pingali Venkayya, the designer of the national flag. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the postage stamp at an event to be held in New Delhi to commemorate the birth anniversary of the freedom fighter. This information was given by Tourism Minister G. Kishan Reddy. Also, he said, the original flag designed by Pingali will be displayed at the event as well.

The central government has sent an invitation to Pingali’s family to attend the ceremony during this period. During this, Home Minister Amit Shah will honor him. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will talk to his family. Born on 2 August 1876 in Machilipatnam, Pingali has designed the country’s flag in many ways. His design was approved by Mahatma Gandhi in 1921.

Kishan Reddy said that there is a demand to honor Pingali Venkaiah with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award. “I have no knowledge about this demand. Will take further decision on the basis of demand. Reddy said, India will celebrate 75th Independence Day during this period. On the completion of 75 years of independence, the central government is running the tricolor campaign in every house. The Tiranga Yatra will be organized in Delhi on August 3.
