IND vs ZIM: Zimbabwe announces team, fast bowler and veteran captain out

The three-match ODI series between India and Zimbabwe will start in Harare from August 18, in which Team India will be captained by KL Rahul.

After winning the ODI series on the basis of a tremendous performance against Bangladesh, now Zimbabwe’s eyes are on the Indian cricket team. A three-match ODI series is to be played between India and Zimbabwe this month, for which Team India will go on a tour of Zimbabwe. The Indian team for this tour had already been announced, now the host Zimbabwe has also announced the team. The team will have to go without their regular captain Craig Irwin. In such a situation, the command of the team has been given to Regis Chakabwa.

Captain and fast bowler out

The Zimbabwe Cricket Board on Thursday 11 August announced a team of 17 members for this series. Apart from its captain Irwin, the team will have to land without stormy fast bowler Blessing Mujarbani. Irwin is yet to recover from a hamstring injury. Mujarbani has a thigh problem, due to which he will miss playing against India.

In this regard, Zimbabwe Cricket gave information about the selected team, injured players and the new captain in a press release. Explaining this, the board said, “Regis Chakabwa will lead the team in the absence of regular captain Craig Irwin. Irwin is still recovering from a hamstring injury. Zimbabwe will also have to play without Blessing Mujarbani, Tendai Chatra and Wellington Masakadza. These three players are also recovering from injury.

Zimbabwe recently defeated Bangladesh first in the T20 series and then in the ODI series as well. Irwin was the captain in the T20 series, but after that he got injured. The three-match ODI series between India and Zimbabwe will be played on August 18, 20 and 22. All three matches will be played at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare.
