Digital Desk, New Delhi. The London-based global citizenship and residency advisory firm said the Indian passport is now ranked 83rd on the Henley Passport Index, up seven places from 90th last year. It released the rankings for the year 2022 based on specific data provided by the International Air Transport Association.

According to the report, Japan and Singapore topped the list of the world’s largest passport issuing countries for the year 2022. Both countries have a visa-free score of 192. Afghanistan (Rank 111) and Iraq (Rank 110) continue. Pakistan, having a visa-free score of 26, has slipped into the worst category in terms of passports.

The index covers 199 different passports and 227 different destinations. The index is updated every three months. The Henley Passport Index is considered the standard reference tool for estimating global passport rank.
