Tektar’s tremendous counter-attack

Lorcan Tucker (18), who was batting at the other end, hit sixes in two consecutive balls against Hardik in the eighth over. In the next over, in an attempt to hit a big shot against Yuzvendra Chahal, he gave the catch to Akshar. Tektar then hit a four and a six against Bhuvneshwar in the 10th over. He completed his third half-century of T20 International career in 29 balls by taking a run off the first ball of Avesh in the last over. After this, he took the team’s score beyond 100 runs by hitting fours and sixes.

For India, experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 16 wickets in three overs and Yuzvendra Chahal took 1-1 wickets for 11 runs in the same over. Hardik Pandya (26 runs in two overs) and Avesh Khan (22 runs in two overs) got one success each. Umran, making his international debut, got an opportunity to bowl an over in which he spent 14 runs.

New opening pair got off to a great start

In response, the Indian team started aggressively. However, Team India surprised by making changes in the opening pair. Deepak Hooda, who returned to the team in place of Rituraj Gaikwad, who was going through poor form, was dropped along with Ishan Kishan. Ishan made a tremendous start by hitting 14 runs in the very first over. He batted vigorously but got out in the third over. However, 26 runs (3 fours, 2 sixes) came off his bat in just 11 balls. He was dismissed by Craig Young. Young returned the pavilion without opening the account to Suryakumar Yadav on the very next ball, who was out LBW on the very first ball.

Hooda-Hardik decided the match

From here, Deepak Hooda (47 not out, 29 balls, 6 fours, 2 sixes) and captain Hardik Pandya (24 runs, 12 balls, 1 four, 3 sixes) made a tremendous partnership and ensured the team’s victory. Hooda and Pandya especially made Irish spinner Andy McBrine their prey and blew 3 sixes in their only over. Together they shared a partnership of 64 runs in just 31 balls. Josh Little broke this partnership by making Hardik LBW. After this, in the next two overs, Deepak and Dinesh Karthik together easily gave the team victory in the 10th over.
