The Indian team made a great start to the Asia Cup by defeating Pakistan in a thrilling match on Sunday. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Team India also avenged the defeat in the T20 World Cup last year. Virat Kohli, returning after almost a month, contributed significantly to the team’s victory. Indian fans were celebrating Kohli’s sixes and fours but former Pakistan captain and veteran batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq was not happy with Kohli’s batting.

Inzamam-ul-Haq finds lack of confidence in Kohli

Inzamam-ul-Haq said about Kohli’s performance on his YouTube channel, ‘Kohli was under a lot of pressure. Usually a set batsman is difficult to get out, but Kohli did not show the same confidence which is seen in a batsman in a set. Inzamam also raised questions on the decision to drop Rishabh Pant from the team. Dinesh Karthik had a place in the team by ousting Pant. Inzamam said, ‘India’s middle and lower order is very strong. This is what separates them from the rest of the Asia Cup teams. I was surprised that he made Rishabh Pant sit out. The trio of Pant, Pandya and Jadeja is very dangerous. It was difficult to score 11 runs on this pitch but he played very well.

Inzamam gave advice to the Pakistani team

Apart from India, Inzamam also advised his team. He said, ‘The selection committee and management should do something about the middle order. After the dismissal of Fakhar Zaman at number three, the team disintegrates. We need specialist batsmen at number four and five. Asif and Khushdil Shah will bat better in the lower order.

Pakistan lacks bowling all-rounder

Inzamam also told that the Pakistan team is missing a fast bowler all-rounder. For this reason, the team could not defend seven runs in the last over. He said, ‘Pakistan needs an all-rounder. I think Pakistan missed the fast bowler all-rounder. It would have been easy for Babur. That all-rounder could have bowled the last over. In T20, the captain should have at least six bowling options.
