People should follow the rules related to corona seriously
The Mayor also appealed to the people to get vaccinated at the earliest and said that everyone should follow the rules and standard operating procedures (SOP) related to corona virus seriously. He said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray can address the public in a day or two. BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh has indicated the lockdown and it will be implemented if the cases escalate rapidly.
RT-PCR test will be done for people coming by cruise
A cruise ship was sent back to Goa from Mumbai late on Monday night. Out of more than 2000 people aboard this ship, 66 were found to be corona infected. The ship was sent back because some infected persons refused to be admitted to the medical centre. In response to a question related to this, Mayor Pednekar said that BMC will conduct RT-PCR test of people returning from Goa by cruise ship.
If there are more than 20 thousand daily cases then lockdown
He said that such people would be quarantined in civic centers or hotels, if they were ready to pay for it. The mayor said that BMC commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal is constantly monitoring the situation and has already indicated a lockdown in case the daily cases exceed 20 thousand. He appealed to the people to adopt corona-compliant behavior and wear masks.
‘No one wants lockdown, everyone will be badly affected’
The mayor said, ‘Nobody wants a lockdown today and it certainly shouldn’t be imposed. People are recovering from it now. If the lockdown is imposed again, it will affect everyone badly. But if the daily cases of corona infection cross the 20 thousand mark, then the state government and the civic body will implement the lockdown in the city as per the rules of the central government.
