Here, the traders bought the produce of the farmers at the rate of Rs 10,350 per quintal. In Akola Akot produce market, farmers got more than ten thousand rupees worth of cotton, called white gold. The farmers were very happy about this.
Traders who buy cotton say that the area under cotton has decreased this year, because last year due to good price for soybean, farmers were more attracted towards sowing and cropping of soybean. In such a situation, the production of cotton this year has decreased significantly.
He further told that this year due to rain, there was hailstorm, which affected the production. The country’s cotton including Maharashtra has a good demand in the international cotton market. That is why this year the prices have gone up so high that the prices may increase even more. This price can go up to 12 thousand rupees per quintal.
At the same time, the administrator of the produce market, Gajanand Punkar, says that decisions are taken for the benefit of farmers in the Akot Agricultural Market of West Vidarbha. Traders and we have good communication here, due to which the pride of selling cotton comes from many areas of Vidarbha, which get a good price. Today, the highest cotton prices in entire Maharashtra have been found in our mandi.
