The accident happened at the V26R stand. The vehicle was to give pushback to the flight from Mumbai to Jamnagar. The cause of the fire in the vehicle could not be ascertained.
It is being told that a sudden fire broke out in the vehicle giving pushback to Air India flight AIC-647 Mumbai Jamnagar. There were 85 people on the plane at that time. There was chaos at the airport at the time of the accident. However, the airport administration quickly extinguished the fire by showing promptness. There was no damage to the flight during this period. The plane took off at 12.04.
It is being told that it is a tractor pushing the plane. This tractor was brought to pushback this Air India flight. This tractor was standing very close to the plane. Then suddenly a fire broke out. The authority has not yet given any statement on how the fire started. This incident is of a new kind in itself. However, the fire brigade extinguished the fire. No one has been harmed in this accident.
