Digital Desk, New Delhi. Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Thursday held a meeting with leading experts and officials in view of the increase in the cases of Kovid-19 in some states. The meeting discussed the trend of COVID cases, analysis of daily and active cases, positivity and deaths, testing status as well as state wise weekly tests per million, RT-PCR share in weekly tests, genome sequencing and vaccination status.
Mandaviya stressed the need to focus on districts reporting high number of corona cases and to conduct adequate testing with high ratio of RT-PCR and effective COVID-19 surveillance to assess and control the spread of infection in a timely manner . He directed officials to continue to focus on surveillance and whole genome sequencing to scan for any possible mutations. He also directed to monitor the hospitalization due to Kovid-19.
Encouraging them to speed up vaccination, including booster doses, in districts reporting high cases, he asked the officials, focusing on expediting vaccination among eligible and vulnerable groups, since adequate doses of vaccine are available. Don’t let the vaccine go to waste.
