The husband and wife living in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh have been sent to jail for five years by the court under two different sections. It is being told that the accused man prepared a fake certificate of Gram Panchayat and sold the government land to his wife for 8 lakh 37 thousand.
This matter came to light when the then woman sarpanch disclosed it by complaining to the SP. This is the first such case when a husband has sold land to his own wife.

An application was given to the Superintendent of Police, District Khargone to the effect that by the accused Mohan Singh father Nahar Singh Tanwar, resident of Shahpura Gogaon, 200 square feet land of Khasra number 77 located on Khargone Sanawad road, in connivance with the former Sarpanch, fake proof of Panchayat land- After making a letter, the said land was sold on 17.10.2013 in the name of wife Ushabai for Rs.8,37,000. After receiving the complaint, it was investigated and the whole matter came out in the open.

Accused Mohan Singh had sold the government land to his wife as private. In this case, the Hon’ble Court has been punished with rigorous imprisonment of 03-03 years under Section 420,468 IMD and fine of Rs 3000-3000 and in Section 467 IMD with rigorous imprisonment of 05-05 years and fine of Rs 2000-2000. They had acquired the land in their own name in a planned manner by forging the signature of Sarpanch Jamuna Bai.
