Musewala was killed to avenge the killing of Middukheda: Punjab ADGP | Musewala was killed to avenge the killing of Middukheda: Punjab ADGP

Digital Desk, Chandigarh. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the sensational murder of famous Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala on Thursday said jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the main conspirator, confessed to killing Vicky Middukheda in August last year to avenge the murder. The plan was made. Anti-Gangster Task Force chief Pramod Ban told the media here that so far 13 people have been arrested in this case, the first being on May 30. Canada-based Goldie Brar, (who is a member of the Bishnoi gang) had claimed responsibility for the murder.

Ban said the shooters had reached Mansa near the village of Musa, the crime scene, on May 25. On reaching Punjab, they were provided with some weapons. He said that AK series rifles were used in the murder. Ban said, “Today we have arrested Baldev alias Nikku, who was with Kedra (Sandeep Singh) in recceing the crime. So far 13 people have been arrested. Nikku inspected the area with the crab, followed Moosewala and signaled the shooters, besides calling Goldie Brar and Sachin Bishnoi to provide real-time updates about the slain singer’s movements.

He said Bishnoi, (whom the state police had brought to Punjab for questioning from Delhi last week) revealed during interrogation that the murder planning started last year. He has confessed to conspiring with Brar, Sachin Bishnoi (Thapan) and his younger brother Anmol. At least three reikis were done before the murder. In January, another group of shooters had visited Musewala’s house. He said that the motive behind the murder, (as admitted by Bishnoi) was to avenge the murder of Middukheda. As per our investigation, Moosewala’s hand in the murder of Middukheda had not come to the fore. There was an assumption about Musewala’s role in his murder by the Lawrence gang.

The Additional Director General of Punjab Ban said that the police have got the details of associates, arms suppliers, financiers and others who helped the gang in various activities. Various district police have arrested 19 people associated with this gang. He said that Bishnoi had hatched a well-planned conspiracy to save his brother Anmol and his close aide Sachin Thapan and made himself a perfect excuse so that he and his associates would not get involved in the crime.

To execute this scheme, he obtained passports on fake details of his brother Anmol Bishnoi and Sachin Thapan and drove them out of the country before committing the murder, the ADGP said. He settled them abroad from where they could coordinate, facilitate and successfully execute the crime without being seen or convicted. Anmol Bishnoi has a criminal history and has 18 criminal cases registered against him. He was in Jodhpur jail from where he was released on bail on 7 October 2021. He had obtained his passport under fake details.

A separate case was registered against Bishnoi and his associates on June 20 based on the disclosures made by Bishnoi during his interrogation.

ADGP Ban said, a deep investigation will be done to find out the role of the officials in this nexus in which persons with criminal background manage to obtain passports from RPO Delhi on fake details and flee the country. We have started the process for his extradition.
