Bhilai. We dream of competing with Indore, but see the lack of awareness about cleanliness. People do not have to pay user charges, so they do not give garbage to the rickshaw. After they leave, the garbage is thrown in the open. Public representatives also do not take challan action against them in the name of vote bank. Even today this sight can be seen daily in dense population.
Last Friday morning … time around 9 o’clock, Location Ward 38, the area behind Uttam Talkies. At that time the street cleaning was going on, the rickshaw wala was going from house to house for garbage collection. Some people were segregating wet and dry waste from the house. The rickshaw driver was playing the city in front of every house. He left with all the people who gave garbage. Plenty of resources for cleaning, but lack of awareness: Bhilai Corporation has given contract to PV Raman Company for cleaning work.
Bhilai corporation has 13 hundred employees, 350 rickshaws, 150 e rickshaws, 70 autos, 12 tractors, three compactors, four JCBs, eight highways are available for garbage collection. Resources are plentiful. Even though the Bhilai corporation administration dreams of competing with Indore, experts say that every citizen of Indore follows the rules completely, there is a lack of awareness in Bhilai. Because of this, a situation like Indore is not being created in the cleanliness ranking.
