PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme
The ‘PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme’ is being started by the Central Government for helping students to continue their studies. Under this scheme, the government will implement the National Scholarship Scheme of Rs 7200 crore for the students of the deprived section of the society from ninth to post-graduate (PG).

PM Yashasvi Scholarship Sanction Amount
Under the scholarship scheme of the Narendra Modi government, the states will have to contribute only 40%. Apart from this, 60 percent of the fund will be arranged by the central government. In the current year, an allocation of Rs.6000 crores was already made for this scheme, but now it has been increased to Rs.7200 crores.
Eligibility for PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme
- Students from class IX (9th Class) to PG (Post Graduate)
- Only Backward students of the society (SC / ST / OBC / EWS) will be eligible for this.
- There will be no board or university merit basis for this.
- Must be a citizen of India.
PMSS Status So Far
- Even before this, the central and state governments have been giving scholarships under different schemes and rules. But not much benefit of the schemes of the state governments has reached the students.
- Till now no major initiative was taken in the post-matriculation scholarship since the year 1944, due to this there is a need to adapt it to the present time.
- In view of all this situation, the Central Government has decided to integrate the Scholarship Scheme for the underprivileged students through PM Yashasvi and make it completely smooth.
How To Get PM Yashasvi Scholarship
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has now planned to release the “PM Yashasvi Scholarship Scheme” instead of the scholarship scheme for the students of the deprived sections (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) of the country. A merit test will be conducted every year in the month of June-July to get the PM Yashasvi Scholarship. After this, the scholarship will be sent directly to the bank account of the students.
