Digital Desk, Srinagar. The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday registered an FIR against 10 leaders and activists of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for organizing a public meeting on the death anniversary of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed in south Kashmir’s Bijbehara town.
An FIR has been registered at Bijbehara police station under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 269 (unlawful or negligent act likely to spread infection of any disease dangerous to life) of the IPC.
On the instructions of the Executive Magistrate (Tehsildar), a case has been registered under the station in-charge of the concerned police station.
PDP leaders, including former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, on Friday participated in a public rally in Bijbehara town on the 6th death anniversary of PDP chief and former Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
Responding to the police action, Mehbooba Mufti said on her Twitter page, COVID-19 restrictions apply only to PDP. This does not apply to BJP protests in Kashmir yesterday, PM’s rally in Punjab or hundreds of people praying for his safety in mass worship.
