Politics on bulldozers fixed the mobilization of voters in Gujarat! , Politics on bulldozers fixed the mobilization of voters in Gujarat!

Digital Desk, Ahmedabad. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Gujarat has started bulldozer politics in some parts of the state and political analysts are divided on this.

Some analysts believe that the BJP will have political benefits, while some say that this step is like a double-edged sword. According to him, along with Muslims, poor and middle class Hindus are also facing a lot of difficulty.

The BJP thinks that a very small number of Hindus will be affected by this move and that is why their low numbers will have little effect on the elections. Hindus were targeted and stone pelted during processions taken out in many parts of the state on the occasion of Ram Navami. The government immediately started the process of demolishing the illegal construction of people who pelted stones. Following the Madhya Pradesh route, the Gujarat government for the first time used JCBs to demolish illegal constructions in the city of Khambhat and demolished an abattoir.

After this, illegal constructions were demolished by bulldozers in cities like Himmatnagar, Modasa, Kadi, Botad and also in Ahmedabad, Surat and other parts of the state. Ranchod Bharwad of Vishwa Hindu Parishad said that for every action there is an opposite reaction. He said that if anti-social and anti-national elements had not attacked the Ram Navami procession, they would not have had to bear the brunt of the government’s action.

International Hindu Parishad spokesperson Neeraj Vaghela said that these illegal constructions have become a haven for anti-national activities. It is necessary to demolish them to protect the integrity of the Hindu community and the country. Vaghela said that the government’s action should not be seen through the prism of politics or electoral gains, nor should questions be raised about the timing of this action. It is important that the anti-national elements should be taught a lesson.

He said that a large number of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are living illegally in the state and these people are indulging in anti-national activities. A large population of them is living in Chandola Lake area of Ahmedabad and the state police should identify them and they should be sent back to Bangladesh. If Vaghela is to be believed, then only illegal constructions of Muslims have been demolished but in reality bulldozers have run on constructions of Hindus too. One such victim is Parag Patel, whose ice cream parlor on the outskirts of Ahmedabad was demolished. He sought time from the officials of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority but their plea was not heeded.

It is not that Parag is the only victim of this bulldozer politics. In the last four days, 550 properties were demolished in Kadi town of Mehsana district. This action was taken to remove the encroachment on the road. Traders demanded time but the bulldozer kept running. The victims of this campaign were also mostly Hindus. In Ahmedabad itself, a sword is also hanging on 280 properties in Bakra Mandi of Ranip area. Human rights activist and lawyer Shamshad Pathan said that out of these 100 properties belong to Dalits, Thakurs and Hindu devi worshipers. There is property of Muslims also here.

Pathan said that if the government is bringing down illegal constructions, then human rights and social activists will support them. However, here under the guise of removing encroachments, the government is bringing the poor and lower middle class families on the road or snatching their livelihood. The BJP probably wants to make an India where no one is poor and no one belongs to the lower middle class. He said the BJP would benefit from it as it was propagating that only Muslim property was being targeted and the middle class and upper middle class welcome it.

The state government says that it is demolishing the illegal construction but here people and social workers have to struggle to get the government land free from encroachment. Chanduji Darbar is one such worker. He recently staged a sit-in outside the Viramgam Mamlatdar office. Since 2019, he has been fighting for the removal of encroachment from the government land near the railway station and Rokadia Hanuman temple. Till now no action has been taken in this matter.

The then Revenue Minister Kaushik Patel had said in 2021 that 345 cases of encroachment and land grabbing were registered. Their market value was Rs 730 crore. The revenue department said there was no report of release of government land from possession except the initiation of criminal investigation. Congress chief spokesperson Manish Doshi said that the main goal of this bulldozer politics is to mobilize the voters but this policy will not work in the state this time. People have now understood that BJP is doing this to divert their attention from the main issues like unemployment and inflation.

Political analyst and economist Hemant Shah said that the government’s action is illegal. He said that when the government has implemented the Impact Fee Act, how can it demolish illegal constructions. He said that under the Impact Fee Act, fees are collected on illegal constructions, due to which the construction becomes legal. Shah also alleged that the BJP was targeting only the properties of Muslims. This may benefit them in the coming elections, but how much this benefit will be, that is a big question.
