The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted rain in East and adjoining central India during the next two days, which will reduce significantly thereafter and very dense fog will prevail over North India for the next four-five days. A Western Disturbance will affect North-West Himalayas on January 16 and 17 and another Western Disturbance will affect Northwest India from January 18 to 20.

There is a Weak Western Disturbance, which is seen as a trough in upper troposphere levels and another trough running from North Interior Karnataka to North Interior Odisha in lower troposphere levels. A cyclonic circulation is persisting over South Konkan in the lower troposphere levels. Under the influence of the above systems, there is a possibility of light rain/snowfall in the higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on Friday.

The IMD said light/moderate rainfall is likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh on Friday and light/moderate rainfall over Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on Friday. Isolated rain is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on January 14 and 15 and over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till January 15. IMD said that isolated light rain/thundershowers over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe during the next five days under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over southwest Bay of Bengal and lower troposphere level over South Tamil Nadu There will be showers.
