- Action in the matter of transferring a suspended land to a Delhi government official
Corruption cost a government employee in Delhi. An official of the Delhi government’s revenue department has been suspended for cheating. According to official sources, on Wednesday, Delhi Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar suspended Hauz Khas sub-registrar DC Sahu for transferring government land located in South Delhi.
Sources said that disciplinary action has been initiated against the sub-registrar and action may also be taken against some more officials involved in the transfer of land. The land which was being transferred is 1,250 square yards of land located near the BRT corridor. Its worth is around 30 crores. After the matter came to the notice of the local people, a complaint was registered and action was taken.
Sources said the land is owned by the gram panchayat and meant for community use, but it was transferred first to an individual and then to a private entity in a “fraudulent” manner.
The land was given to the farmer
After the matter came to light, it was brought to the notice of the Committee on Petitions of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, after which on checking the facts, it was found that the land had been transferred to a farmer. However, no cultivation was being done on it. “Action was taken against the sub-registrar as he had filed the sale deed of land ‘without proper verification’ which showed that it was government land,” sources said.
