Digital Desk, Thiruvananthapuram. A 22-year-old youth, who returned to Palakkad in Kerala after traveling to the Middle Eastern country, died on Sunday. The young man had suspicious symptoms of monkeypox. At present, the department has ordered the district health officers to prepare a route map for the travel of the deceased youth.

Health department sources told IANS that department officials are awaiting the report from the virology lab in Alappuzha to confirm the disease. After the report comes positive, the samples of the deceased youth will be sent to the National Virology Lab in Pune. The state health minister’s office will announce the lab test results.

The health department is also trying to trace the people with whom he came in contact after returning to India from the Middle Eastern country. They have been asked to remain in isolation. Sources said that the youth had gone to play football with his friends after reaching home on July 22. After getting the symptoms of monkeypox in the youth, all of them have been asked to go into isolation.
