digital desk, Srinagar. A video of Indian Army personnel carrying a pregnant woman on her shoulders to a hospital amid heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector went viral on social media on Sunday.
Defense sources said the Army had received a call from Ghaghar Hill village of LoC Boniyar requesting immediate help to take a pregnant woman to the hospital.
Faced with continuous heavy snowfall and knee-deep snow, the soldiers carried the woman on their shoulders to the primary health centre, a distance of 6.5 km.
Referring to another incident during the recent heavy snowfall, the Army said on its Twitter page, in response to a distress call, a team of Chinar Corps safely evacuated a pregnant woman on a stretcher amid heavy snowfall and She was taken to the District Hospital in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir for delivery.
The woman has given birth to a boy.
These heroic acts have been highly appreciated by the local people.
