Indian women’s cricket team is going on a tour of England. This tour is very important for Indian cricket because after this tour one of his experienced players will never be seen again in the team. The name of this player is Jhulan Goswami. Jhulan will play his last international match on 24 September at Lord’s ground, which is called the Mecca of cricket. Before leaving for this tour, the team’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur has praised her most experienced player.
Harmanpreet Kaur recalled Jhulan Goswami’s contribution to cricket, saying that the veteran pacer’s passion for the game is unmatched and no one can fill his place in the team. On 24 September, she will say goodbye to international cricket by playing the third and final ODI match against England at Lord’s. Jhulan currently holds the record for taking most wickets in international cricket.
no match for them
Harmanpreet made her international debut in the 2009 World Cup against Pakistan under the captaincy of Jhulan. He has many memories associated with this legendary Indian fast bowler, who has a record 252 wickets in 201 ODIs. Jhulan is the only woman bowler to take more than 200 wickets in this format. Speaking to the media on the eve of the team’s departure for the England tour, Harmanpreet said, “She goes into each match with the same kind of passion which is unmatched.” No one can compete with them.
Harmanpreet said, when I made my debut, she was the captain. It’s a great opportunity for me to take over the captaincy when she plays her last ODI. When I got a place in the team, she was the only player who used to lead from the front. I learned a lot from him. No one can take his place.
Jhulan has not changed
Harmanpreet said that even today Jhulan prepares in the same way as she used to do earlier. He said, she is such a player who always puts in the same effort. She bowls for two-three hours. She still works as hard as she used to do in her early days. You hardly see any bowler who works hard in the nets like him. No one has the kind of passion he has for cricket.
I learned a lot from him as a cricketer and as a person. He is a great example for all of us. Many players in the country adopted this game after seeing him playing.
team will do its best
Harmanpreet said that the team will try its best to make this occasion special for Jhulan. He said, “We are talking about that this is his last tournament. This is very special for them and for us. We will try our best to make it memorable for them.
such is the career
Jhulan participated in the ODI World Cup played in New Zealand in March this year but she got injured before India’s final group match against South Africa. Due to this, she could not even go on the Sri Lanka tour in July. Jhulan made his international debut in 2002. He retired from T20 cricket in 2018. This fast bowler played his last Test match in October 2021. Jhulan has played 12 Tests, 68 T20 Internationals and 201 ODIs in total. He has participated in six World Cups.
